(San Diego) Willy Adames produced the deciding point with a shot and the Tampa Bay Rays edged out to a 5-2 win over the Houston Astros on Tuesday, approaching a victory of one. back to World Series.
Tampa Bay took matters into their own hands with five points in the sixth.
Kevin Cash's group now have a 3-0 lead in the American Championship series.
Game four will take place on Wednesday evening at 8:40 p.m.
Tyler Glasnow will face Zack Greinke.
The Rays are trying to advance to the World Series for the second time in their history.
In 2008, they lost in five games to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Houston took the lead in the first inning thanks to home run Jose Altuve, who had made two mistakes in the previous game.
But in the sixth, Randy Arozarena hit a single as the first hitter in the inning. An optional earned him the second cushion-result of another Altuve error.
Jose Urquidy was then replaced by Enoli Paredes.
Yandy Diaz hit safe at center field, filling in the goals.
Joey Wendle then hit a two-run single to the opposite field.
Manuel Margot then advanced two runners by depositing a sacrificial cushion - a very first in 2020, for the Rays.
Kevien Kiermaier and Adames were hit, which earned one more point.
Hunter Renfroe then dealt a heavy blow, slamming a two-run double, as a substitute hitter.
Renfroe also had a brilliant catch, diving to right field in the seventh at the expense of George Springer.
Michael Brantley hit a home run, but the Astros didn't make more noise.
At the end of the ninth, Diego Castillo first retired Josh Reddick to bat.
Quebecer Abraham Toro walked off and Springer walked away, but Altuve was struck out.
Castillo then closed the books by disposing of Brantley on a ball in center field.
The Astros reached the final round in 2017 and 2019. They triumphed three years ago, beating the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games.
